We want our graduates to have the technical and life skills for success in the clean energy economy. Here's what we cover in our 13 week, 450 hour program:

Life Skills

  • How to empower yourself and build a career

  • How to land a job and keep it

  • Effective communication with employers and team members

  • How to understand and manage your finances

Solar Bootcamp

The fun part: assemble a solar array and hook it up.

All trainees will prep for and take the North American Board of Certified Energy Practitioners (NABCEP) PV Entry Level Exam.

Construction Skills

  • Power and hand tools, and how to use them

  • Math you can use for construction jobs

  • Understanding construction drawings

Who can apply?

Anyone can sign up for the SHINE training program as long as they are physically able to lift 50 pounds and climb a ladder.

 

No prior solar experience or degrees required. And you don’t need to own power tools or construction gear to get started.

 

Preference will be given to applicants who:

  • Live in Roxbury, Dorchester, Mattapan or Hyde Park

  • Speak fluent English

  • Have a total household income of less than $77,000
